Whether it’s a morning coffee on the go, a client meeting over a refined afternoon tea or a catch-up with friends for happy hour, we all need some tried and tested spots to go. The Style Sheet is here to help, with four favourites that cater to different palettes and occasions. Even better, all of them have al fresco areas for those perfect sunny days!

Oolaa Star Street serves happy hour favourites such as the Espresso Martini (left) and Aperol Spritz (right), along with many other specials and snacks

1. Happy Hour Classics at Oolaa Star Street

Oolaa Star Street is known as one of those great all-rounder destinations that goes from breakfast through to dinner — and everything in between. One of those ‘in-betweens’ they do exceptionally well is happy hour. Every weekday from 3–8 p.m., and weekends and public holidays from 3–7 p.m., pick classic mixers including Espresso Martini, Cosmopolitan and Aperol Spritz, or prosecco, wine, spirits and beers, all at happy hour prices. The spot is also a winner for share-friendly snacks, including fully loaded nachos and Korean chicken wings.

9 Star Street, Wan Chai

Classics at Blue Bottle Coffee in Starstreet Precinct include the Drip Coffee Blend (left) and the Hot Latte and Iced Latte, with snacks including Japanese Brioche (right)

2. Top-Rated Coffee at Blue Bottle

Those who know their coffee know Blue Bottle is where you’ll find some of the best, with all the brand’s coffees exceeding specialty-grade standards. (For the coffee nerds, these standards require coffee to score 80 points or higher on a 100-point scale, and Blue Bottle only purchases coffees that score 84 or above.) There’s an abundance of coffees to choose from, including favourites such as Drip Coffee Blend and a classic latte in either hot or iced, as well as sparkling and seasonal specials. You’ll find an array of light bites and sweet treats to pair with your coffee too. We particularly love their Japanese Brioche with red beans and homemade maple almond butter.

15 St Francis St, Wan Chai

Emmer Pizzeria & Café serves up daily happy hour specials along with its mouth-watering pizzas, including its unique Emmer Spritz and Emmer Negroni (left) and favourites the Bloody Mary and Mojito (right)

3. Summer Aperitivos at Emmer

Fans of Emmer love the pizzeria for its slow-made approach, which privileges ancient, organic heritage grains to make pizza that’s naturally tastier and better for you. The love that goes into the team’s pizza is reflected in everything they serve up, drinks included. Signature Italian aperitivos including the Emmer Spritz, which features a house-made amaro blend alongside blood orange, limoncello and prosecco, and the Emmer Negroni, also made with the house amaro blend. You’ll also find a range of great happy hour specials running daily from 4–8 p.m. including prosecco, white, rosé and red wine. Not drinking alcohol? There are some great no- and low-alcohol options, including a ‘Faux-secco’, fruity kombuchas and zero-alcohol beer.

Shop 407, Level L4, Pacific Place

New Hokkien-inspired restaurant Ming Pavilion offers a wellness-focused tea menu for all tastes inside a calming, nature-inspired space

4. Artisanal Tea at Ming Pavilion

One of the most chic dining experiences in the neighbourhood is Ming Pavilion, the newest Chinese restaurant at the Island Shangri-La. Its sophisticated, nature-inspired space serves chef Lam Yeung’s incredible contemporary take on Hokkien cuisine. But what’s lesser known is that the restaurant’s tea menu is so strong it rivals the food. Curated by tea mixologist Tiffany Chan, it spans a thoughtful and wellness-centric offering. Some favourites? Fuzhou Jasmine Dragon Pearl, a floral and aromatic tea known to detox, enhance vision and reduce blood pressure. There’s also Tongmuguan Jinjunmei, a fully fermented aged black tea that nourishes the body and supports digestion. A strong, sweet cup of Dahong Pao offers a captivating character, while Anxi Tieguanyin from Southern Fujian displays a fresh taste supported by a delicate, floral aroma.
