Starstreet Precinct has always been a place to gather — for coffee, conversation or the occasional detour down a quiet side street. This season, the neighbourhood takes on a fresh new look as the Star Street Refuse Collection Point transforms into a vibrant canvas of community and colour, initiated by Swire Properties as part of its longstanding placemaking efforts.
Award-winning local artist Isaac Spellman's whimsical mural captures the daily rhythms of the district, turning a familiar landmark into a vivid backdrop that celebrates the people, stories and culture of Starstreet Precinct, from past to future. Learn more about this transformation through an inspirational evening at the official launch party and urban tours. Join us and become part of Starstreet Precinct's next chapter.
Isaac Spellman Unveils New Mural for Star Street Refuse Collection Point
The inspiration behind Isaac Spellman’s four-sided mural lies in bridging Starstreet Precinct’s rich heritage with its forward-looking urban energy.
With the use of natural thematic link between Star, Sun, and Moon Streets, he weaves together the neighbourhood’s history, nature, and modern rhythms in a continuous visual tapestry that captures the shifting streetscape. From historical nods to the 1890 power station on Star Street, to the present-day energy of Sun Street’s walkways, where a striking blue-and-white porcelain vase bridges the area’s East-meets-West heritage with modern street life, and Moon Street symbolises a hopeful vision for the precinct’s future. Concluding in the back alleys with a creative homage to Piet Mondrian, the artwork pays tribute to the building's previous mural.
An Evening to Celebrate Together with Moon Tang
The celebration kicks off in the evening as the community gathers in front of the newly revamped Star Street Refuse Collection Point for a launch party. Local singer-songwriter Moon Tang will take the stage for a live performance and join artist Isaac Spellman and urban studies advocate Sampson Wong for a conversation on the inspiration behind the new mural and the stories of Starstreet Precinct. Set against the vibrant artwork, the evening promises a unique blend of music, art and community storytelling.
