’Tis the season to embrace the Christmas spirit — and Starstreet Precinct is doing that, with eco-friendly flair.

Head down to the eclectic neighbourhood from now until 2 January, and discover a holiday installation inspired by the timelessness and sustainability of rattan. Created in collaboration with AaaM Architects, the installation celebrates the material, which has a very low eco-impact due to its fast growth and simple processing, and channels modern Nordic design such as the organic (and very winter-appropriate!) forms of Alvar Aalto and Seppo Koho.

Handcrafted using sustainable woven rattan ribbons that will later be reused, the festive abstract forms start adjacent to Queen’s Road East and flow through the Precinct, with seasonal surprises and hidden sparkles along the way. One such reveal is a larger-than-life Santa hat that lends itself playfully to a very Instagrammable moment.

And of course, it’s not Christmas without presents! To add to the festive cheer of the season, you’ll receive over 30 per cent rebate in rewards when shopping and dining in the neighbourhood. (Discover more about the enticing list of eligible stores and restaurants here.) If you’re not sure where to start your shopping, the revamped Neighbourhood Guide has you covered. You can grab a handy new pocket-sized version from 13 December to unpack the hidden gems and latest shops on the block to help you have one very merry holiday season, or check it out online.
