The Skincare Goals of Top Dermatologists

While most of us want to take better care of our skin, it’s often hard to know where to start. To inspire you to better define your skincare goals, we ask four top dermatologists to weigh in on theirs: Asking each to share how they aim to improve their own beauty routine.

Because what better source of inspiration for upping our skincare game than by peeking at the experts’ personal notes?

Pencils at the ready.

Dr Nicola Chan

‘Many of us invest a lot of time and money on taking care of our facial skin, but it’s often the skin on the neck and hands that gives our age away. My current skincare resolution is not to forget these areas when using my daily sunscreen. I’m also making sure to use a non-irritating, proven anti-ageing lotion or cream on these areas every night, too.’ — Dr Nicola Chan, Hong Kong-based dermatologist

Dr Sam Bunting
‘I’m trying to make time to fortify my skin with a course of medical needling — for me, this is the best way to reboot my skin and build on the hard work performed by my daily skincare routine. It bolsters collagen reserves, making skin thick, lustrous and crease-resistant without ever making you look “done”.’ — Dr Sam Bunting, London-based cosmetic dermatologist

Dr Macrene Alexiades
‘I’m adding UV screens in the car for added sun protection and have started applying my anti-ageing regimen to my hands. I’m also hoping to formulate the world’s most effective toxin-free sunscreen this year. Let’s see if I can do it!’ — Dr Macrene Alexiades, Associate Clinical Professor, Yale University School of Medicine and Founder & Director, Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center of New York

Dr Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin
‘We all know that stress and an unhealthy lifestyle leads to poor skin health, so I’m in an ongoing process of finding balance in my stressful life. Getting enough sleep, eating right, meditating and exercise is not only going to make you feel better, but it shows on your skin. I also want to add more variety to my workout routine beyond hot yoga!’ — Dr Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, NYC-based dermatologist and clinical professor of dermatology at New York University Langone Medical Center
