For the beauty-obsessed, Halloween presents the perfect opportunity to really play with your make-up stash. There’s room for liberal applications of eyeshadow, swipes of your boldest lipsticks, and more than a sprinkle of glitter. And while costume make-up is never off the table come 31 October, there’s a lot that can be achieved with more traditional make-up products too — and the results can be much more flattering.

From an ethereal, snow-dusted white witch to an iconic evil dog-napper, The Style Sheet shows you how to get the look of four legendary movie and TV villains this Halloween.

1. Queen Beryl, Sailor Moon

Cartoon evil Queen Beryl — Queen of the Negaverse and main antagonist of Sailor Moon — comes to life with her signature raspberry-hued makeup look and plump cherry lips. Don’t have eyeshadow in the right shade? No problem — your blush will do the trick.

1. A bold rim of winged red eyeliner

2. A heavy sweep of magenta blush

3. A slick of high-shine red liquid lipstick

2. Jadis The White Witch, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

Jadis, the evil White Witch that creates an endless winter in Narnia, looks deceivingly angelic in this ethereal makeup look featuring white powder, shimmering highlighter, creamy white lids and lashes, and a smattering of crystals. Don’t have white mascara? A mascara primer will work just as well.

1. Liberally glued crystals above the brow

2. A dusting of white powder all over the face

3. A creamy, shimmering highlighter dabbed on the lips

3. Scar, The Lion King

One of Disney’s most hated villains, notorious for his murder of Mufasa in The Lion King, Scar comes to life in human form with plenty of contouring, feline eyes and, of course, that infamous scar.

4. Cruella de Vil, 101 Dalmatians

101 Dalmatians’ villain Cruella de Vil — the fashion-obsessed heiress who wanted to skin 99 puppies in the name of a fur coat — makes for one glam villain. Bright, 80s-esque eyeshadow and blush, plenty of black eyeliner, and a signature apple-red pout will help bring this iconic character to life.
