To help you narrow down your options, The Style Sheet investigates ten of the area’s best spots for indulging and toasting in the lead up to Christmas as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Who says you need to pick one? ’Tis the season to feast and be merry, after all…

1. Gather the gang at Oolaa Petite


Ideal for festive gatherings of larger groups, the three-course special Christmas set menu includes a variety of sharing plates, a festive main and dessert each. You’ll also find ten holiday a la carte menu items, including a traditional turkey plate with all the trimmings and a Christmas cheese platter. Staying home? Order a four-plus or ten-plus person feasting package, including a traditional Christmas spread featuring lots of sharing starters, roast turkey, honey-roasted ham, crackers and pudding.

2. Dine on French Fare at Maison Es


Be transported back in time as you dine on a festive menu within a laid-back, garden-themed environment designed entirely by Chef Ester Sham herself. On the set menu? Modern festive fare such as toro ceviche, langoustine tortellini and seared Kagoshima short ribs. Lunch is available on 25 December and dinner with festive tasting menus on 24 and 25 December. But don’t dally: seats are limited, and pre-orders are required for some dishes.

3. Explore an X-traordinary affair at The Pizza Project


An X-traordinary carb-filled affair awaits at neighbourhood pizza joint, The Pizza Project. Enjoy a set menu including special pizzas like truffle gorgonzola with fior di latte, caramelised onions, hazelnuts and fresh truffle, or smoked salmon and caviar. To go with the pizzas (if you need anything else), there are spcial menu items such as baked tomino cheese and deep-fried prawns – and, of course, there are sweet favourites like tiramisu, panettone and Nutella pizza…

4. Drink in Christmas at Matchali


A trio of Matchali Christmas specials awaits those with a love of festive flavours and the prettiest drinks in town. Take your pick between a sweet but earthy White Chocolate Matcha Latte topped with toasted marshmallows, or a Peppermint Matcha Latte inspired by the classic candy cane, topped with whipped cream and candy cane sprinkles. Each fortified with matcha, both offer calming, jitter-free Christmas energy. For the full winter experience, try the Spiced Gingerbread Latte with a dash of cinnamon.

5. Indulge in a meze-filled feast at FRANCIS


In the spirit of Christmas, let FRANCIS cook a festive menu for the whole table to share. Tuck into ten sharing dishes including grilled scallops, baked halloumi and lamb shoulder with sweet potato. The special menu will be on offer from Friday 24 to Monday 27 December from 12–11 p.m. and, contrary to usual practice, FRANCIS will be up for reservations, meaning you don’t have to worry about the wait.

6. Festive toasts with all the trimmings at The Upper House


The Upper House is celebrating the festive season with a series of sumptuous menus that mark Salisterra’s first Christmas and New Year. For Christmas Eve or Christmas Day lunch, enjoy panoramic harbour views from Salisterra while indulging in smoked chestnut velouté, beef tartare, red prawn capelletti, roasted duck breast and more; Christmas Day dinner offers all your a la carte favourites with Christmas specials. You can also ring in the New Year high above the city lights over free-flow drinks and nibbles from 9 p.m.–1 a.m., or celebrate New Year’s Day over brunch. 7. Test out a holiday first at TMK Rap & Rolls


It`s the first-ever festive season for TMK Rap & Rolls — a perfect spot for those looking for less-traditional Christmas fare. Backgrounded by the up-tempo playlist, hang out within the music-inspired interiors and feast on a limited-edition festive menu including karaage, a sushi and sashimi selection, their famous hand rolls and the delightful Dirty Banana and Monaka for dessert. The festive brunch is available 25–27 and 31 December and 1–2 January and the festive dinner 24–25 December and 1 January.

8. Indulge in tradition at The Continental


It’s all about tradition at The Continental with a three-course set menu, including dishes such as roast goose ravioli, cured Arctic char and slow-roasted beef rib, as well as twists on classics like truffle Wellington, all paired with canapés and minced pies. For New Year’s Eve, enjoy a convivial countdown with a classic a la carte menu, including whole lobster thermidor and Dover sole meunière, or enjoy a four-course set menu. You can also indulge in post-dinner celebrations on the terrace with a free-flow offering and sharing snacks from 9:30 p.m. through to midnight. 9. Try an Asian twist on classics at Jouer


For those who prefer in-home catering, Jouer brings you an opulent Christmas feasting menu. Adding their signature playful Asian twist on holiday classics, the unique feast uses the finest winter ingredients and is perfect for both Christmas and New Year celebrations. Dishes include hors d’oeuvres such as lobster devilled eggs and mini red wine venison pies, mains range from the more traditional roasted baby turkey with porcini and sticky rice stuffing to beef rib and roast duck, with an array of delectable fusion-style sides and desserts. 10. Festive brunch at Pici


Handcrafted pasta fave Pici is doing a Christmas brunch until 2 January on all weekends and public holidays — perfect for a casual festive catchup or two! Meals begin with seasonal highlights, from fig salad with molasses dressing to an indulgent truffle mushroom provolone. And the fresh pasta also gets a seasonal twist, where Christmas cannelloni is filled with roast turkey, braised artichokes and smoked scamorza; the Creamy Fettucine Lobster also stars. Desserts are Italian classics, from tiramisu to panna cotta and of course panettone. Buon Natale!
