For this edition of our Creative Spaces series, The Style Sheet stays close to home, stepping inside the much-anticipated new JOYCE flagship concept store. A celebration of the retailer’s expressive personality, the space is bold, unique and daring.

The retail store’s lead architect, Betty Ng of COLLECTIVE, calls the vision for the space one filled with paradoxes. ‘We wanted to sustain the exhilarating sense of unearthing and adventure that are intrinsic elements to the boutique’s vision, but at the same time, balance it with intimacy and warmth.’ Expect a juxtaposition of surfaces and colours that plays with quirky, intimate details and nod to the brand’s legacy, such as the repurposing of the original door handles from the former central flagship.

It’s not just the space that leans into creativity, with the product edit — which spans womenswear, menswear, genderless, accessories, homewares, beauty and more — championing plenty of rare and unexpected items and collaborative collections.

Highlights include a JOYCE x Paco Rabanne ‘Iconic’ capsule. Exclusive to JOYCE in Asia, the range celebrates key pieces from past runways which have returned as new statement looks in all-over silver and gold.
In another homage to the opening, prolific Japanese designer and master tailor Yohji Yamamoto reaches back into his Spring Summer 2009 archive to create a capsule exclusively for JOYCE, with some pieces that are exact replicas of the runway originals.
The new space also plays home to a brand new category for JOYCE – Entertaining Curiosities. Perfect for homemakers, hosts with the most, and those looking for unique gifting ideas, the area spans a niche edited of artisanal and luxury brands sourced from around the globe, including Cabana Magazine, Laguna~B, Fredericks & Mae and more.
For those who love iconic Japanese brands and quirky, statement objects, check out the store’s Undercover x Medicom collection, which fuses the streetwear cool of designer Jun Takahashi with the iconic designs of the world’s most beloved figurine makers.
