Every season The Style Sheet scouts the menswear fashion weeks to bring you the need-to-know trend highlights. From the return of a classic cool print to new takes on tailoring, here are our top three Spring/Summer 2019 men's fashion trends.

Tie-Dye Returns

Most of us have said a fond farewell to our decades-old tie-dyed wardrobe, but this cult dyeing technique is now back in style, coming in a kaleidoscope of colours and super cool shapes. Classic saturated bright colours ruled supreme in Louis Vuitton’s collection, which also included the new red-carpet must-have male accessory, the harness. Blue tie-dye shirts and shorts punctuated 3.1 Phillip Lim’s holiday-inspired collection, giving an eye-catching spin on casual wear for men. Be sure to step into spring with this classic, vibrant print.

Daddy’s Denim

Catwalks have long been dominated by ultra-skinny jeans, but now a new shape is coming to play. No longer can we groan at our dad’s old, baggy jeans, as this season’s new denim shape is the dad jean. Pair with slip-on loafers and a graphic T-shirt as seen at Balmain, with a bold blazer like Pradaor even one of this season’s must-have graphic knit jumpers. A 90s denim vibe emerged as Versace matched baggy jeans with suit jackets and sneakers and Valentino went full-on double denim. It’s time to take dad shopping.

Tailoring Anew

Streetwear and athleisure continue to be go-to men’s looks. However, for the dapper gent looking for something a bit sharper, the new, refreshed approach towards formal tailoring might be just the thing. Raf Simons spearheaded the return of a smarter look with a collection full of satin, oversized suiting coming in a wide range of bright colours from fuchsia pink to baby blue, as well as classic darker tones paired with knitwear. Meanwhile, Dior Homme offered men’s suits and tailoring in a plethora of colours and prints. This season, you can feel free to bring the tailoring outside the confines of the office.
